Michigan wide receiver Amara Darboh makes impressive one-handed catch
The 21-year-old senior wide receiver became a US citizen Thursday evening after years of living in the country once he and his family fled the civil war in Sierra Leone when he was two-years-old – an event that claimed the lives of both of his parents.
Michigan is taking on BYU in the Big House and Wolverines receiver Amara Darboh made a big catch. They ended up seeking refuge in Gambia and eventually Darboh was able to be sent to Iowa, reported the Detroit Free Press. He was taken in by a family in Des Moines when he was in sixth grade. “Dan comes to all my games”. Growing up here, I considered myself American while not forgetting my background. He tried to become a citizen late in high school, but paperwork was lost in the move to Ann Arbor. “So, for me, this establishes that and completes my final step in me becoming an American”, Darboh said.
Darboh applied for citizenship last winter and had to pass a test this week before the ceremony.
