Microsoft aims for 1 billion Windows 10 devices by fiscal 2018
Microsoft’s Windows 10 aims to win back disenfranchised Windows 8 users. If you want to wait a little while to see if new bugs pop up as Microsoft starts rolling the system out, you have some time – in most cases, Microsoft’s giving customers a year from Wednesday’s launch to take advantage of their free upgrade. CCTV’s Shraysi Tandon filed this report.
And Microsoft is offering a free upgrade to Windows 10 for most people.
Reported by various analysis of current market speculations, it is being expected that Microsoft is going to shut down their Lumia phones department, and that the Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL are already termed as “shelved” projects internally. For starters, it has brought back the task bar and the iconic start button, making the system easier for existing users to handle.
Cortana has been readapted with local content as Microsoft seeks to increase Windows 10’s appeal to Chinese users.
Myerson does mention apps, but not specifically in a mobile context, and flags up the Companion Phone app, which is designed to help sync PCs with Android and iOS smartphones as well as Windows ones.
Windows Hello requires specialized hardware, including fingerprint reader, illuminated IR sensor or other biometric sensors.
Millions of PC users who already use Windows 7 or 8 will also be able to upgrade for free. The company has decided to combine some of the top features of Windows 7 and Windows 8 to give users a better experience.

Which version? Windows 10 is available in a Home version and Professional version.
Microsoft has also cleaned out the cobwebs from its browser, ditching the much-reviled Internet Explorer in favor of a new program called Microsoft Edge. You’ll see a brief overview of what Cortana can do in the pop-up window and you can click the Not interested button if you’d rather stick with the standard Windows 10 Search tool, else click the Next button. So, in theory, you won’t have to ever do this sort of thing again; future updates should just come to your computer automatically. If you’re not upgrading from one of those versions of Windows, you’ll need an official Windows 10 license key, which will cost a minimum of $119.

Users who ignore the notification won’t be forced to download the software. Microsoft also makes money from selling Windows and other software to large businesses and organizations. Windows 10 has clearly been designed with that in mind – whether it’s enough to convince people to love their Windows PCs remains to be seen.
