Microsoft announces first Lumias to get Windows 10
It looks like Microsoft will be going for a big Q4 push, if rumors about the possibility of releasing three high-end Lumia smartphones are true.
The list of Windows 10 Mobile Lumia phones that will be supported are the Lumia 430, 435, 532, 535, 540, 640, 640 XL, 735, 830 and the Lumia 930. Both the phones will be high-end, but the Lumia 950 XL is considered as the next flagship Windows phone.
Microsoft today announced that ten Lumia handsets will be the first receive to receive a free upgrade to Windows 10, most of which were released within the past year.
To get Windows 10 Mobile, your Lumia device will need to have the Lumia Denim update installed. The phone is covered in a special case that hides it from public view when it’s being used outside the corridors of Microsoft. That’s Microsoft’s new software that allows you to connect a keyboard, mouse, and external display and basically turn your phone into a desktop PC. The Lumia 940 and 940 XL phones are made of polycarbonate plastic and have a thickness of seven to eight millimeters only.
In terms of devices, Microsoft’s purchase from Nokia might have taught it a couple of lessons.
Windows 10 was launched last week, and the mobile version will be unveiled soon.
They say Windows Phone failed to become a strong rival to Android and iOS, pointing to the 3 percent market share the platform now holds worldwide as living proof. For example, Trend Micro recently detailed major improvements in Edge, which will replace the Internet Explorer browser as part of the OS refresh.
Of course, the Windows 10 update is the kind of thing that will trigger many computer users to make a significant change to their machines, so it’s not surprising that cybercriminals would want to find a way to get in on the action.
