Microsoft Finally Opening Its Flagship Store in New York
“For us it’s about sitting down and educating you”, said David McAughan, COO for retail and online stores of Microsoft.
Microsoft has finally found the ideal location for its flagship store and it’s none other than the iconic Fifth Avenue in New York City.
Alejandro Alba / New York Daily News The new Microsoft flagship store on Fifth Ave. will sell the new Surface Book and Surface Pro 4. The glass facade of the Fifth Avenue store, erected with minimal structural attachments so as to seem to disappear when you enter, allows light to flood into three floors of retail space, complete with streamlined, Scandinavian-designed type tables and an “Answer Desk”, the company’s response to Apple’s Genius Bar.
Microsoft is opening a flagship store on the famous avenue, marking its latest location in an ever-expanding footprint.
Since New York is one of the most popular attractions for tourists, Microsoft tried to make sure that everyone can talk to store staff, so employees speak a total of 19 languages, including Spanish, Hindi, Mandarin, Arabic and Russian.
Microsoft will also offer free educational workshops and trainings at the store’s community theatre, which can host up to 60 guests.
The first two stories of the store will be visible from the outside through the large glass façade. Outside of the store, Microsoft installed a 40′ x 20′ digital screen called the Culture Wall that will showcase local architecture and landmarks.
( MSFT ) said it is opening its first flagship store in the heart of Manhattan at Fifth Ave. and 53rd St on Monday. The Band 2 devices, which Microsoft has been showing off in its Stores since last week, is available for order now and deliverable starting October 30. “Customers from around the world will descend on this and we will have the opportunity to interact with Microsoft directly through this Fifth Avenue store”.
