Microsoft has debuted its first laptop and it’s called the Surface Book
Microsoft Surface Book isn’t available yet at your favorite Microsoft Store.
This is a laptop that can accommodate up to 512 GB of storage and run up to 16GB RAM. That’s right – you’ll be able to use the Surface Book on your lap this time around. The screen is now 12.3 inches and comes with a 267 ppi display.
With a machined magnesium body, 13.5-inch high-density display, backlit keyboard and 12-hour battery life, the Surface Book is clearly gunning for the MacBook Air and Apple’s super-svelte new MacBook. A discrete GPU is optional for those who want to ramp up the device’s graphics capabilities.
Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) just announced the Surface Pro 4. Notice how the black border around the screen is slimmer on the Surface Pro 4 above than it is on the Surface Pro 3 below. Taken together, Microsoft says its new devices are all about boosting productivity.
“Full Windows 10 is coming to the phone…this means Office…this means it’s supposed to be the most productive phone you’ve ever seen”, said Microsoft executive Panos Panay at the New York City event. The laptop too, like Surface Pro 4, offers multiple variants.
The Surface Pro 4 has a 12.3-inch display in the same physical footprint of the older 12-inch device, making it compatible with existing keyboard accessories.
It’s one of the first major product reveals for Microsoft since Windows 10 was released widely ten weeks ago. The newest Pro has a smaller screen and is lighter then the Pro 3, but will feature redesigned type cover keys and a fingerprint scanner.
The phones, which will be available end of the month, will come with Windows Hello and windows continuum.
The laptop officially goes on sale on October 26, although Microsoft will begin accepting orders for it tomorrow.
The Lumia 950 sports a 5.2-inch display and a hexacore processor, while Lumia 950 XL is a larger smartphone with a 5.7-inch screen and an octa-core processor.
Microsoft, whose shares were up 0.6 percent at $46.89 at midday, said 110 million devices were now running Windows 10.
There have been leaks and rumors about Microsoft’s new Lumia phones for a while now, but today the public finally got a look at the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL.
