Microsoft Lumia 550 Windows 10 Smartphone Launched
Some details about Lumia 550 were hidden, since the focus of the company is on the premium devices.
Microsoft’s new Windows 10 Mobile OS with futuristic features like Continuum is reportedly headed to older handsets with Windows Phone 8.1 on board.
The device ships with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 quad-core processor running at 1.1 GHz and features 1 GB of RAM, which, according to Microsoft, should be enough to run Windows 10 Mobile pretty smoothly.
Many carriers are apparently testing Windows 10 on unlocked models. Gadget lovers will also love its long-lasting battery, which is at 2100mAh power.
The Lumia 550 is now available in the USA and some other countries, the handset will set you back $139.
This is essentially a smaller variant of the Lumia 950XL, priced at Rs 43,699, and will also go on sale on December 11. That’s why Microsoft is taking the lead and working on a Surface Phone which looks like one of the most ambitious projects next year. The Microsoft Surface Phone will probably be launching sometime in the second-half of 2016, approximately a year after the launch of the two latest Lumia phones. Microsoft Store and AT&T are offering Lumia 950 for the price of $590.
Well, now that official Windows 10 phones are here, perhaps Microsoft, a company with tens of billions in the bank, can maybe assign a few more internal programmers to the Windows 10 universal app side of the fence, so some of those iOS and Android apps can be ported to Windows 10, too. Today we’re looking at the Lumia 950 vs Galaxy S6 Edge Plus in a bootup speed test. For selfies, it comes with a 8 Megapixel front camera.
