Microsoft Plans to Buy Israeli Cloud-Security Firm Adallom for $320 Million
Microsoft is reported to be buying the Israeli cybersecurity firm Adallom, in only the latest collaboration between the U.S. and Israeli on online security matters. And, you don’t have to be a data scientist to understand risks and threats.
Founded in 2012, Adallom is headquartered in Palo Alto, California, with a development center located in Tel Aviv.
Adallom’s service monitors the use of the cloud application by individual employees, identifying patterns and then singling out anomalies as possible breaches.
Adallom specialises in the Software as a Service (Saas) area of cloud security by providing users with information security technology on remote servers and can secure information stored on cloud services from the likes of Salesforce, Microsoft and Google.
Enhancing the security of its products has become a priority for Microsoft, but with Adallom’s acquisition, the company can kill two birds with one stone. Each insight is said to be actionable, so the enterprise is able the apply the applicable policies. According to the reports, Microsoft is also going to open a cybersecurity operation in Israel. Israeli financial newspaper Calcalist previously reported the deal.
Based in Menlo Park, CA, Adallom raised $49.5 million over three rounds prior to acquisition.
As per Calcalist, Adallom received close to $50 Million in venture capital from investors which includes Sequoia Capitol and European Index Ventures as well as EMC Corp and Hewlett-Packard, among others.
