Microsoft Releases Outlook Email App for Apple Watch
The Microsoft Outlook app for Apple Watch is available now in the App Store on iTunes, installable through your iPhone or iPad device.
Although primarily focused on notifications, the new apps will allow users to also do various interactions, such as replying to messages, adding new reminders and yes – translating on-the-fly from your watch, which could be rather convenient. Outlook, however, lets you pick from quick replies, use emoji or dictate your response, similar to Apple’s Messages app.
Like many other Apple Watch apps, Outlook also comes with its own glance screen.
Meanwhile, OneNote now shows the most recent notes users have viewed more conveniently.
Though the survey showed that buyers are excited with the watch, some analysts are not very optimistic on Apple Watch sales numbers. Strategy analytics state that a total of 4 million Apple watches were sold in the first quarter with revenue of $952 million.
Meanwhile, if you use Microsoft’s business social network Yammer, you’ll soon be able to get that on your Apple Watch as well. On the watch’s Glance screen, you can view unread emails and calendar appointments.
From a technology perspective these are interesting developments, but from a productivity perspective possibly not so useful.
Apple Watch orders will ship immediately if placed online and in-store pickup is also available. Until then, the tech giant allowed consumers to try the watch in-store but the purchase could be made through Apple’s website only. The retailer is also selling accessories along with the Apple Watch, so you can check them out if you’re interested. The upcoming Yammer watch app will notify you about announcements and updates to relevant conversations.
“The Apple Watch is a big addition to our stores and website, and we know our customers want it”, Best Buy’s senior category officer Jason Bonfig told Fortune.
Also on the Android Wear front, the new OneDrive promises a better experience than the last version.
