Microsoft’s new Lumia flagships leaked price: similar cost to an iPhone 6S
Microsoft will be holding a press event on October. 6 in New York City where it’s expected that the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL will officially be unveiled, along with a budget-friendly Lumia 550. The company’s strategy has two specific reasons: price and “Universal Applications”.
Microsoft has some new Lumia devices to unveil in the coming weeks, but they won’t come cheap. First up is the Lumia 950 which comes with a 5.2-inch display with a resolution of 1440 x 2560. The chipset will reportedly be supported by 3GB of RAM and will come with an storage capacity of 32GB. Its specs include 5.7 QHD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC, 32GB of expandable memory, Iris scanner, and 3,300mAh battery with support for Qualcomm QuickCharge and Qi wireless charging. And the best thing to wait for is, will people give “Microsoft Lumia 950 XL” a shot?
While Apple clearly views its 7.8-inch iPad mini as a premium device, featuring the same technology as its larger sibling, the iPad Air, Microsoft describes small Windows 10 Mobile tablets as low-cost devices with low-end hardware specifications. As for the design, it looks like Microsoft will opt for a classic Lumia style, offering a plastic handset with a matte finish in white or black. It is said that these devices will have a polycarbonate plastic body but most likely will have a metal frame, although dimensions were not yet disclosed.
Given the fact that the Surface Pro 4 itself has not been formally announced, the specs and features associated with the device are just rumors for now, but they have been getting more consistent recently. In the meantime, users of 7-inch tablets, whether or not they are running on an Intel or ARM device, will feel the lack of regular win32 apps.
Phone Arena discovered a leak made by a Spanish retail website that shows the price of the dual-SIM Lumia 950 as €659 and the Lumia 950 XL as €749.
No official word yet on when Microsoft will formally introduce the Surface Pro 4. The two will also house 20-megapixel PureView rear snappers and 5-megapixel front cameras.
