Microsoft’s Newest Product Is Like Apple in Alternate Reality
The first flagship is the Fifth Avenue New York City store, just a few block away from Apple’s Fifth Avenue store.
Microsoft Corp. on Monday opens the doors to its first flagship store in the heart of Manhattan at Fifth Ave. and 53rd St. – the cross streets of a vibrant and historic local community and internationally recognized shopping destination.
On its other floors, Microsoft‘s newest store will feature both first-party, Microsoft-branded devices – including Surface tablets and laptops, Xboxes, Lumia phones and related accessories and toys – as well as a number of products from its PC partners.
The size of the store – Microsoft has leased over 22,000 square feet in the building altogether – allows the company to do things that it can’t in smaller spaces, Soligon said.
The Monday inauguration of Microsoft’s Fifth Avenue New York City store will coincide with the announcement of the general availability of the company’s new Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book devices on the same day.
Microsoft will also offer free educational workshops and trainings at the store’s community theatre, which can host up to 60 guests. The Band 2 devices, which Microsoft has been showing off in its Stores since last week, is available for order now and deliverable starting October 30. Today, more than 80 percent of Americans live within 20 miles of a Microsoft store, with more than 110 stores across the US, Puerto Rico and Canada, as well as online stores operating in 189 countries.
Alejandro Alba / New York Daily News “Rock Band 4” will be available for purchase at the grand opening.
Microsoft’s new flagship store will have the latest Xbox one games. The Dell Experience will let customers get their hands on Dell products for either personal use of business. Microsoft will reveal the Culture Wall and bring down the curtain that is now covering the glass façade.
