Microsoft’s Sway out of preview, Windows 10 app released
Which Web browser do you use on your computer?
Hollis Johnson/Tech InsiderYour location, browser history, and purchase history are just a few of the things that Microsoft now has access to if you downloaded Windows 10 and kept the default settings.
Microsoft was quick to allay these fears and a spokesperson for the company gave assurances that “Windows does not collect personal information without your consent” and that the “performance, diagnostic and usage information” that it keeps is used primarily to identify problem areas and help in coming up with fixes. Next, you will choose between upgrading your PC or downloading Windows 10 OS (which needs to be burned on a disk or saved on a bootable USB drive).
After checking your computer’s compatibility for the upgrade, you will need to apply for the update as there is a queue system in place.
Many users didn’t like it when Microsoft replaced its traditional desktop and Start button with the tiled Metro display, but Windows 10 mostly does away with that in favor of the more traditional Windows interface.
Microsoft has made good on its promise to bring DVD playback functionality back to Windows, removed with the launch of Windows 10, offering a free player and codec pack to selected upgraders while asking others to pay £11.59 for the privilege.
But there’s one big question: should we turn to such apps to enhance our privacy when using Windows 10?
The official release also makes Sway available to more businesses and schools through the company’s Office 365 program, reaching a key potential market for the app. The company has also updated its Docs.com portal, where users can publicly share documents including Sway presentations.
It will take a bit for the OS to be downloaded and verified, then to check for updates, and only after these three steps are taken, the installation process will begin. If you are feeling excited about the upcoming build, you can try it out on your Lumia smartphones. Luckily, Microsoft provides a faster way to back to your previous Windows version.
According to the agreement, the OS will save your Bing searches, private email content and the apps you access, as well as “your typed and handwritten words”.
Well, you can, by going to Settings, then Privacy and messing around with your options in there.
“We have seen unprecedented demand for Windows 10, with reviews and customer feedback overwhelmingly positive around the globe”, said Yusuf Mehdi, corporate vice president of Microsoft’s Windows and Devices Group.
