Microsoft Says It Needs A Phone As Good As Its Surface Line-Up
The development of such a device isn’t that farfetched as Microsoft introduced Continuum on Windows 10 which allowed users to connect their Lumia 950 to dock and use it like a desktop computer.
Chris Capossela’s interview sheds light on the long-rumoured Microsoft Surface Phone that is supposed to be a “breakthrough” device and the “spiritual successor” of the Surface lineup. This statement has already garnered attention as many are suggesting that Capossela might be hinting that the company is working on a new Surface phone.
Even though most rumors regarding the Surface Phone’s specs contradict themselves, all agree that the smartphone won’t arrive until the second half of 2016.
The Surface Pro 4 is powered by Intel’s 6-generation Core processors (Core M3 to Core i7) and paired with Intel HD Graphics 515, Intel HD Graphics 520, or Intel Iris Graphics, depending on the variant that you choose. This was made apparent when more information about the Surface Phone was made public recently in an interview. Chris Capossela, the tech giant’s marketing chief, teased at a current project that sounds like a Surface Phone, which is touted to be its answer to the iPhone, according to Gotta Be Mobile. Some are taking this to mean that Microsoft is working on a “breakthrough Surface phone”.
With the releases of these flagship devices, the company is hopeful to establish a name for themselves.
Regarding the features of Surface Phone, speculations are still floating about. The company wrote off billions of dollars from its acquisition of smartphone maker Nokia and phones running Microsoft’s Windows operating system have not been huge sellers.
That said, it does specifically mention the Lumia 950 only. We are yet to see what Microsoft has in store for us in 2016, but the prospects seem to be very bright. The Lumia 950, on the other hand, is available from both the company website for $550 and from AT&T for 19.97 per month under the Next 24 program.
