Microsoft Surface failure throws New England Patriots off their game

At Monday morning’s season-ending press conference, Patriots coach Bill Belichick said the tablet issues had no effect on the game. While it’s doubtful that the tablet glitch made a material contribution to the Patriots’ 20-18 defeat by the Denver Broncos, there’s no question that Microsoft lost big over the incident. The issue was identified as a network cable malfunction and was resolved during the 2nd quarter. With the Microsoft tablets, coaches can see instant replays of each down during the game, and coaches can write on and scroll between instant pictures. That WiFi issue was later confirmed by Microsoft in a statement that was used by several online sites reporting on the issue.
Microsoft has gotten much, much more than they bargained for with the Surface deal.
While the costly fail may look like a black eye for Microsoft, the company told The Guardian the issue was “not related to the tablets themselves but rather an issue with the network”.
The Broncos, who did not face a tablet interruption, were permitted to continue utilizing their tablets as National Football League rules mandate the tablets to be shut down for the participating teams only if they have trouble before the commencement of the game. A lot of frustration that they didn’t have them that last possession.
The Surface Pros have been referred to as iPads by commentators, while the tablets have been routinely thrown about by infuriated players, although whether it’s what the Windows computers have been showing or the machines themselves that has caused the toys-out-of-the-pram moments isn’t known. Microsoft’s tablet has taken a beating on the sidelines in the past as well. “You deal with what you deal with”. “That’s just part of it. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don’t”.
