Microsoft Surface Phone specifications leak, Snapdragon 835 and 6GB RAM expected
The news app is now available in three markets and the tablets are offered only in two, but an expansion is very likely to be announced soon, as the company is still exploring its options for 2017.
However, it is important to take note that these details are still subject to confirmation, and that the Redmond-based tech giant has yet to officially confirm the existence of the Microsoft Surface Phone.
Initially, the company had officially said to be working on Surface Phone, but there aren’t any timely updates over this project. According to Microsoft chief executive Satya Nadella, Microsoft is after something unique.
The company allegedly gave the nickname “Panos” Phone to this device, most likely referring to Microsoft’s chief of Surface development, Panos Panay.
The Microsoft Surface phone is expected to debut sometime in 2017, but the exact time frame isn’t known yet.
The Microsoft smartphone that is increasingly being relied on to resurrect that of the company’s struggling section is now getting more and more evident as its specifications are thrown into the spotlight. On the matter, Nadella has said that the upcoming device will be made thinking of a specific group of customers who need specific features. These statements have raised a lot of excitement on Twitter.
Of course, nobody really knows exactly what the mobile of the future might be, or indeed what the ultimate mobile device might do.
Microsoft’s United Kingdom store will be the first place to get the Surface Studio, and if past releases are anything to go by, the device will also be available from high-street retailers soon after. On October 26 earlier this year, Microsoft today took the wraps off its designer-oriented device, the Surface Studio All-in-One.
Apparently, it will come with two memory options. Under the hood, the Surface Phone will be using the Snapdragon 835 SoC and will be available in 4GB and 6GB RAM variants.
The other prototype, understood to be the consumer version, is rumored to have 4 GB of RAM.
Although the Surface Phone is to run on a Windows OS, rumors claim that it will be capable of running Android and iOS apps as well, which, if turns out to be true, will surely attract more buyers.
The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 is reported to run all the desktop software that most users rely on, with a lighter weight starting at 1.69 pounds. Furthermore, it has also been mentioned that the next Microsoft phone could have a 5.5 inch display.
