Microsoft to launch slimmer Xbox One S
The Xbox E3 2016 event was started with the announcement of the brand new slimmest console Xbox One S and it ends with the another new console news.
However, according to BBC analyst, Dave Lee, “Project Scorpio is Microsoft’s way of offering a VR-ready console”.
Xbox chief Phil Spencer insists the new console is much more than a simple refresh, which is how one could describe the Xbox One S.
Spencer promised that all Xbox One games would work across the three systems: Xbox One, Xbox One S and Project Scorpio.
By setting up a release of Project Scorpio in holiday 2017, Microsoft is ensuring it doesn’t anger its fan base and eat into the Xbox One S success.
Since this is smaller than the original console, users now have the option to display it vertically thanks to the new optional vertical stand.
But the biggest surprise was Project Scorpio, Microsoft’s plan to actually make consoles bigger and more powerful, with a new console expected next year.
The Xbox One S can be bought on August wit prices starting at $299 while Project Scorpio is predicted to cost no less than $1,000 (via BBC).
Information about the new Xbox One S was leaked by NeoGaf forumer Ekim the day before Microsoft’s E3 press conference, as reported by this site. It can also handle 4K video. High definition games would run at maximum resolution the whole gaming time.
There are a bunch of major releases coming to the program, including Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon 3, ReCore, Killer Instinct, Ark: Survival Evolved and Halo Wars 2.
Xbox also announced new features for online service Xbox Live, including clubs, “Looking for Group”, cross-play between Xbox and Windows 10 computers, language region independence and Microsoft’s digital assistant Cortana.
