YouTube on Android devices have been doing this for some time. Good news! Available today on iPad is our Today Widget.

iOS has had multitasking for quite a while now – apps can run (temporarily) in the background, and can even wake up and perform actions in the background. Siri will do the same in the iOS 9. With iOS 9, this is possible – though to what extent depends on the hardware you’re using. HTC has also installed this feature in the One M9, showing apps based on whether you are at home or at work. Fallout Shelter, which puts you in control of your own vault in the aftermath of a nuclear apocalypse, allows players to buy “lunch boxes” that contain items like food, power, and new vault inhabitants with special skills. This is a $40 app task management app that runs on iPad, iPhone, and Mac. When you’re done, just grab the handle on its left side and swipe it back off the edge. If you’re planning on installing solar panels, changing window positions, erecting shade cloth or a pergola, or creating a new garden, this app will show you how the sunlight affects your area. If you haven’t designated an app for Slide Over, you’ll be prompted with a list of apps that are compatible with the feature.
Of course, along with being a text editor, Coda for iOS is also a full-blown and fast FTP app. Once you connect to a server, you can upload, download, duplicate, rename any of your files and Coda handles them graciously.
The giants of the Web have been pressing developers of mobile apps to index their content so it can be parsed by search engines or linked to from other sites. Swipe it away to the right to return the attention to your previous app.
Watching videos in the corner is another way that Apple brings multitasking to the iOS 9.
So where’s all that money coming from in a free-to-play game? In the iOS 9, you can use Apple Maps to navigate yourself through the city using public transport.
Still, the majority of app makers have resisted deep links, because they could reveal information they’d prefer to keep to themselves. LG and Samsung offer split screen multitasking for years now. Just for info, Google Maps does this for some time now.
