Microsoft Will Not Have a Presence at This Year’s Tokyo Game Show
Microsoft will skip this year’s Tokyo Game Show, according to a recent Famitsu report (translated by Gematsu). Still, it’s continued to try and push its way in. TGS is one of the world’s largest game shows, and Japan’s premier industry event- that said, from Microsoft’s perspective, it probably makes sense to sit this one out. Multiplatform games skip out on having an Xbox One release in Japan. “We’ll update everyone as soon as possible”.
Since it’s Japanese launch last year in September 2014, the Xbox One has been selling incredibly low, which maybe the explanation for this year’s absence from Tokyo Game Show.
What do you think about Microsoft not showing up at TGS? Sending media, tech crews and representatives to a show where its booth might not even receive any attention could end up being a huge waste of money. Nintendo’s had huge success with its digital-only Nintendo Directs – could Microsoft be planning something similar? The event runs from September 17 to the 20 at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba.
