Microsoft Will Now Share More Details About What’s in Windows 10 Updates
Even though it’s unclear when the next version of Windows 10 Mobile will hit Insiders, at least we know Microsoft is working hard on various builds that might or might not be released to Lumia users.
While the new release notes are still perhaps a bit vaguer than one would like-for example, the update fixes unspecified “issues” with installing patches and the operating system with no indication of what those issues might be-this change is still a useful improvement on what came before. But, what about Windows 10’s servicing options? Microsoft is actually making the details of the update available before the actual update is. IT pros have to look at the Windows 10 release information page to get those details. Some attribute this to Microsoft changing the way it delivers Windows. There’s a new Windows 10 update rolling out today that addresses a huge number of issues. Microsoft is now reclassifying Windows 10 as “recommended” rather than “optional”. In October, 2015, Myerson said “starting next month”, Microsoft planned to take a first stab at providing more documentation to both consumers and business users about what the company is delivering with each new update for Windows 10. The monthly updates and periodic upgrades bring with them a wide collection of security fixes, stability improvements, and new features.
If you work for a large company, your system administrators are likely monitoring these updates, so Windows 10 won’t automatically download without their OK.
Microsoft will support Windows 7 until 2020 and Windows 8 until 2023, after which time it will stop fixing any security problems. That update is called Windows 10 Redstone, and that’s all Microsoft is willing to say publicly about the update now. The bulk of the changes are directly related to security fixes that were needed to patch the technology inside Windows 10.
The Free Windows 10 Upgrade Offer doesn’t expire until this summer.
Fixed issues with authentication, update installation, and operating system installation. It’s been fixed. Another issue kept apps purchased in the Windows Store from downloading and updating. (There is no Windows 9.) Windows 10 also paves the way for multiple devices to work together.
