Microsoft Windows 10, is it worth downloading
With today’s launch of Windows 10, GeekWire decided to check out the local Best Buy in Seattle to see what sort of Windows 10 selection we could find at retail.
The company assured users who reserved their upgrades that they would be notified once the operating system has been downloaded to their PCs.
Before its release, Microsoft was already getting an installation rate for Windows 10 of 16 install per second, showing that the new operating system is installed in a very fast rate by users worldwide. Microsoft has been working really hard on the development and the marketing of the OS.
Hopefully Microsoft will make an official announcement regarding install numbers pretty soon, as it will definitely entice developers and OEMs to jump aboard the Windows 10 bandwagon. The Home edition will cost approximately Rs 7,999 for new users while Pro version will cost approximately Rs 14,999.
As indicated by Microsoft, the recent upgrade will be rolled out to various devices, specifically PCs, tablets, phones, Raspberry Pi, Xbox One, and HoloLens. The two update files weigh in at more than 1GB in size, so you may want to plug in your laptop so the battery doesn’t die.
Based on lessons Microsoft learned in the past, Alkove also said that the transition process to Windows 10 Enterprise should be an easier one for businesses than when they migrated from Windows XP to Windows 7. Running the virtual machine however, would require you to download a couple of things such as the Windows 10 ISO and Virtual Box.
You could still work in a classic desktop mode in Windows 8, but you’d often have to go back to Modern UI to perform a lot of tasks and run certain apps.
Windows 10 Enterprise will be available on a free trial basis, reported by Microsoft’s TechNet Evaluation Center. The software giant has described its new OS as the start of the “Windows as a Service” era, indicating that it will be managed much like cloud software, akin to its Office 365 product.
