Middlesbrough Complete Signing of Leicester Striker David Nugent
Promotion hopeful Middlesbrough has boosted the team’s attacking options with the signing of Leicester City striker David Nugent.
The England global underwent his medical in the north east yesterday and finalised personal terms last night.
Karanka added: “I think always the crowd and the people are hoping for good players and this season we are bringing in a lot of good players, a lot of quality players, a lot of big character players”.
“I have Ulloa, Kramaric, Vardy and Okazaki”.
He scored more than 20 goals for the first time in his career as City stormed to the Championship title.
Nugent impressed Karanka in his first six months at the Riverside when the striker’s goals spearheaded the Foxes to promotion to the Premier League in May 2014.
Middlesbrough had been linked heavily with Blackburn Rovers’ Jordan Rhodes and reportedly had a £12m bid for the 25-year-old turned down.
“I am happy with my squad”.
“I want to be back in the Premier League as quick as possible and I’m sure the rest of the lads do, the manager and the fans, too”, he said.
“I know what the Championship is all about”.
“The good thing is that David wants to join us and believes in our project and this club”. You never say never in football, but we are not actively looking for anyone else right now.
The 30-year-old joins the Championship side for an undisclosed fee that Boro boss Aitor Karanka described as not “crazy”.
