Middlesbrough sign striker David Nugent from Leicester
“I believe we are signing a very good player”.
Nugent, who scored against Andorra on his only England appearance, helped Leicester to promotion during his four years at the club. “I’m officially a Middlesbrough player now and I’m delighted”.
Nugent appeared in all 46 of Leicester’s Championship games when they won promotion in 2014, scoring 20 goals, but started fewer than half of the Foxes’ Premier League games last season.
Middlesbrough had been linked heavily with Blackburn Rovers’ Jordan Rhodes and reportedly had a £12m bid for the 25-year-old turned down.
“I am happy with my squad”.
“Even if I am not playing I would be there to support the lads”.
“The main thing I would like to say is how well Middlesbrough are working”.
“Everyone knows what a good player he is”, said Karanka.
“It’s a club that’s moving forward and just missed out on the Premier League last season in the play-off final”, he told Boro’s official website.
“Nobody’s place is guaranteed in a team, I’m not sure what the gaffer will do tomorrow, but if selected I’ll give 110 per cent and play with passion”.
“Home form is massive in the championship and if that stays consistent you’ve got a good chance of getting promoted”, added Nugent, who could feature today as Boro play host to Bolton Wanderers. David is one more and for this reason I think the crowd is excited.
