Midfielder To Undergo Liverpool Medical This Week After Agreeing Five-Year Deal
Reports last week explained how Inter Milan had been keen on securing the highly-rated midfielder but a phone call from manager Jurgen Klopp seemingly secured the deal for the Reds.
Red Star have also negotiated a 10% sell-on clause in Grujic’s contract.
The Serbia U21 global is expected to fly into Merseyside later this week to complete a medical, before returning to Serbia to see out the rest of the season with table-topping Red Star – who are unbeaten in the league with 20 wins from 22 games.
Liverpool have agreed to personal terms with Marko Grujic and, with a deal with Red Star Belgrade sorted, the young midfielder is set to undergo his medical this week.
He made his first-team debut at the age of 17 in May 2013 after coming up through the ranks at Red Star’s youth academy.
It is understood that Grujic may stay with Red Star for their Champions League qualifiers next season if the two clubs can come to an agreement.
In those 21 appearances, Grujic has scored 5 goals and 7 assists.
According to the Liverpool Echo, the Reds will pay €7m to sign Grujic, but they will bank €1m of the fee back for loaning him to Red Star Belgrade until the end of the current season.
A solid signing for the future, but Liverpool fans will be hoping for new additions to improve the squad in January given the dismal performances of late.
