Mike Pence Used Private Email Account to Conduct Indiana State Business
Of course Mike Pence used an AOL email account for official government business.
After the incident, he is said to have simply set up a new AOL account.
Pence spokesman Marc Lotter said the records contain emails to and from government accounts in addition to emails between Pence’s AOL email account and other non-government email accounts.
Indeed, in October of 2016 Pence sent a supportive tweet to the Federal Bureau of Investigation for reopening the case against Clinton and her private emails.
A counterfeit email sent from Pence’s AOL account past year claimed the then-governor and his wife were stranded in the Philippines and urgently needed money.
In back-to-back Tweets, Pence hammered the Associated Press for publishing a private email address belonging to Second Lady Karen Pence and refusing to remove it.
It’s worth noting public officials ARE allowed to use personal email accounts under IN law, as long as they save any emails related to official political business IN accordance with open records laws.
“As Governor, Mr Pence fully complied with IN law regarding email use and retention”.
Is Pence a hypocrite? Trump’s comments led his supporters to chant “Lock her up!” at rallies.
It’s a comparison, though, that Pence says has no merit. The state’s Supreme Court is now deciding if it will hear the case.
The White House Thursday night found itself in a controversy involving Vice President Mike Pence’s use of a personal email account while governor, just hours after Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself from any investigations that may involve the Trump campaign and Russian Federation.
Last summer, a hacker got access to Pence’s AOL account and sent a message to all Pence’s contacts saying that Pence and his wife are stranded in the Philippines and require money.
The FBI had concluded in July that Clinton or her colleagues had been “extremely careless” in the handling of very sensitive, and highly-classified information, but the agency did not recommend filing any charges against her.
Mrs Clinton appears to be transfixed by the headlines as she learns that the vice president was embroiled in an email controversy. But those matters – whatever they were – were apparently just fine for Pence to discuss over his personal account, which was proven to be susceptible to hackers last June …

IN law does permit government officials to maintain a private account, but generally does require that messages connected to official business be kept for public information purposes.
