Mikkel Boedker’s OT goal pushes Coyotes past Ducks, 4-3
“We’ve had enough 3-on-3 overtimes”. The Ducks are 3-0 since General Manager Bob Murray released a public stand down on the status of Coach Bruce Boudreaux.
The Arizona Coyotes Anthony Duclair will be aspiring to duplicate his outstanding performance in only his second game as a Coyote when he scored his first career hat trick in the Desert Dogs 4-0 impressive victory against the Ducks last month.
A four-game winning streak for the Ducks (5-7-3) ended just like that.
Rakell has missed Anaheim’s last three games with an upper-body injury he suffered in Wednesday’s game against Florida, but could make his return to game action Wednesday against the Oilers.
Left winger Mikkel Boedker scored in overtime to give the Arizona Coyotes a 4-3 win over the Anaheim Ducks on Monday night at the Honda Center. I use him as a sounding board a lot of times, and I can see why he was captain of a Stanley Cup championship team.
“That penalty kill was outstanding”, forward Max Domi said.
“Everybody knew that Ryan felt really bad about it. I didn’t hear anything in practice today regarding the drop pass at all”.
“He’s a great leader”, Boudreau said. “We got the draw, we had control of it, we weren’t taking shots unless we thought we had a chance to score, and then that happened”.
After being unable to crack the scoresheet until the fifth game of the season, both Ryan Getzlaf and Perry appear to be heating up for the Ducks.
“For whatever reason, we seemed a little out of sync tonight as a line, as a unit”, Getzlaf said. Instead, he ended up setting the puck on a virtual tee for Boedker, who completed Arizona’s rebound from an early two-goal deficit and Sami Vatanen’s late tying goal for Anaheim.
This time, Domi and Duclair did their damage in the second period, when the Ducks may have changed the cast of characters but continue to be just as woeful. He went 16 games without scoring last season.
The Coyotes had a pretty impressive start to the season before cooling off a bit and while many had them pegged to land a top three draft spot in the offseason they actually have a few decent talent that could surprise a few teams this year.
“I wish I could, but I think anything I say is an excuse, and it’s just got to be better”, Boudreau said.
The Ducks took a 2-0 lead in the first period by scoring twice in just over a minute against Lindback, who made his second start of the season.
Silfverberg is due up next for his first goal.
When asked after the game who would start in goal Tuesday against Los Angeles, Tippett said the staff would talk about it, but he was leaning toward playing Mike Smith, who has a career 2.13 goals against average and a. 931 save percentage against the Kings in 20 games.
