Milan Lucic’s Kings debut ends with ejection for going after Logan Couture
It didn’t take long to renew the west-coast rivalry between the San Jose Sharks and Los Angeles Kings.
“I honestly didn’t think he was going to come all the way”, Couture said of Lucic. Lucic commented on his hit on Couture, saying that he got the match-penalty because of his reputation.
“I didn’t even know it was a big deal, really, until after the game”, Brown said of his neutral zone collision with Couture. “I think the guys respect what he went out and did there at a key point in the game”.
By earning a match penalty that means that Lucic is automatically suspended for the Kings’ next game pending a review by the league.
“It’s like a schoolyard or anything”.
Neither Dustin Brown nor Milan Lucic will receive any supplementary discipline for their respective questionable hits in Wednesday night’s Sharks win in Los Angeles, according to Kings Insider Jon Rosen.
“I was told when I was in the box to change right away”. Mind you, Friday night’s overtime did end differently, with a power play goal that gave Chicago a 3-2 verdict over the Islanders. That’s a dumb comment on his part, but whatever.
Well, can’t say I’m surprised San Jose Sharks fans. Next time, just wait for Brown to fully knock Couture out of the game before deciding something should be done.
“If this was 10 years ago and a play like that happened in a 5-1 game, it would have been a lot messier”.
“I didn’t like the play”. “I get hit as much as I hit”.
After they were stomped 5-1 by the Sharks, the Kings returned to the ice Thursday morning for a back-to-basics practice, one that started with simple breakout drills for the defensemen.
McNabb, whose lineup spot seemed secure in the days leading up to the opener, was benched in favor of the more experienced Jeff Schultz.
Sutter said McNabb needed to “play better”. Not only was the hit late, but on a player who already has a history with concussions.
