Miles deserved better from LSU
So that’s a positive, right? He has a good new deal at FSU and lets face facts coaching in the ACC is a great deal easier than going to the SEC.
“To me, I look at it as a positive”, Fisher said. I have a policy. I don’t speak about jobs. “Our best and easiest way to defend the coach is with our play and eliminating the mistakes we had this past game and the week before that”. We’ll state every coach’s case, whether he wants the job or not, in 500 words or so. So I have no comment on that.
“I’m going to go on to work…at a few point in time there’s a me in this, not while I’m coaching. I think I’ve been [coaching for my job] for 11 years”.
Fortunately for Florida State, it never did. “There are so many jobs and situations out there”.
In 2014, LSU lost the Music City Bowl to Notre Dame to finish tied for sixth place in the SEC with an 8-5 record. But even though he might fit, and even though it really might be possible to pique Fisher’s interest and make this happen, there’s one other very big issue. USC.
And, nearly as bad as the way Les Miles has been treated over the past week. It’s what have you done for me lately.
So Fisher handled the question quite well on Monday, in my opinion. Better to a step ahead of the game and turn into Texas and get into the problems over undergoing a complete gut-job overhaul.
There’s no two ways about it – LSU has every reason to covet Jimbo Fisher. Doubtful. Having the Eagles here is more about how low the likelihood of Miles-to-Illinois is of becoming a reality than it is predicting Miles to Philly.
Miles has a 110-32 record in 11 seasons with the Tigers and has won 10 or more games seven times. That’s the kind of resume most schools build statues for.
LSU just might get a special halftime show this season after all.
But one thing is certain: If Fisher were to leave today, as disappointed as Florida State fans might be, they would owe him a major debt of gratitude. That was just ranked No. 2 in the country three weeks ago?
Meanwhile, he’s now at Florida State. Hoskins left last Saturday’s game with a knee injury.
Plus, with Nick Saban’s Alabama program running roughshod in recent years, it would make sense for the Tigers to try to answer with a coach who operates his program in much the same fashion. The program oscillated for a bit between Andrew Hatch, a transfer from Harvard, and Jarrett Lee, a Texas quarterback who played well against everyone but Alabama. Georgia’s Mark Richt is not the only current SEC head coach feeling the pressure.
