Miley Cyrus to Star in Woody Allen’s Upcoming Amazon Series
We are so excited about the series, that will be fully directed by Woody Allen; our sister site, Deadline was the first to report the news.
Woody Allen has officially cast Miley Cyrus, 23, and Elaine May, 83, as two of the principal stars for his new series that will take place in the 1960s. The six-episode series will join Amazon’s slate of originals, which includes Golden Globe winners Mozart in the Jungle and Transparent. Although this is the first time Allen has worked with Cyrus, May will be familiar to fans of Allen’s films. He talked to me while he did it, whispering that I was a good girl, that this was our secret, promising that we’d go to Paris and I’d be a star in his movies. “To this day, I find it hard to look at toy trains”.
At the summer Television Critics Association press tour last summer, Amazon Studios chief Roy Price told the room full of reporters that it was he who approached Allen about a collaboration.
At the Cannes Film Festival past year, Allen made an unexpectedly candid statement about the Amazon project he was working on, stating that “It was a catastrophic mistake”.
