‘Milifandom’ creator backs Andy Burnham in Labour leadership race
The trade union’s general secretary Dave Ward said that Corbyn was the antidote to the “virus within the Labour Party”.

Mr Burnham’s announcement comes just days after Jeremy Corbyn streaked ahead in the race to be the new Labour leader, earning the backing of two unions including Unison.

She announced on Twitter and on Channel 4 news that she’s giving her support to Andy Burhnam.
The survey by market research company Research Now came amid indications that Mr Burnham is trailing behind far-left contender Jeremy Corbyn among those who actually have a vote in the ballot to choose a successor to Ed Miliband.
She interviewed leadership front-runner Jeremy Corbyn for the Mirror, and said he was a “man of the people”.
But Mark Serwotka of the PCS union said he believed the veteran Islington North MP would do “so much better” in the next election than Mr Miliband managed in May because he offered “hope of a different way”.
“It is a serious threat to our world and to social progress and the Tories are taking us backwards”, she said.
Mr Burnham is expected to unveil his manifesto next week, but said that although Labour faced a “long road back” in Scotland, he was confident that most Labour voters who had backed the SNP in the last election would be ‘prepared to give [Labour] another go.’.
