Militants again give slip to forces in Kupwara forests
Summary: A gunfight erupted in Manigah area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday morning with militants and forces exchanging a heavy fire, police said. As per reports, the terrorists have crossed the border to enter the Haihama forest area in border district of Kupwara.
They added that contact with the hiding militants was established early today and a fierce gunfight was going on.
He said militants perhaps managed to give slip to forces once again.
Meanwhile, Senior Superintend of Police Kupwara Aijaz Ahmad said, After receiving a tip of about the presence of rebels in the area this morning, our operation team rushed to the spot.
The operation is underway and the search has intensified with the main agenda to track down the militants responsible for the killing of Commanding Officer, 41 RR, Col Santosh Mahadik and another soldier. One unidentified militant has also been killed.
As per defence sources, a group of militants is believed to have infiltrated this side of Line of Control (LoC) on October 31.
