Militants Killed In Pakistani Strikes
12 militants were killed when security forces clashed with them in Pary Gharin area of South Waziristan Agency, security sources said.
Army has successfully begun its operations in the area of Shawal.
Army Chief General Raheel Shairf directed armed forces operating in Shawal to attain their objectives at a brisk pace on Thursday, reported Dunya News.
“It seems air raids have been successful and it is now possible for the army to take control of the ground”.
In a separate incident, at least 43 militants were killed in aerial strikes conducted in North waziristan.
The Pakistani army has been carrying out a major military operation in North Waziristan since June last year to eliminate local and foreign militants. The reports emerged just two days after the military said it also killed 65 militants as it entered the final stages of its anti-Taliban offensive, code-named Operation Zarb-i-Azb, in addition to another 40 suspected militants Sunday.
Meanwhile, Pakistan has long been combating a home-grown insurgency for over 10 years following the late 2001 US-led invasion of Afghanistan.
According to officials, nearly 3,000 militants have been killed since the launch of the latest offensive to make it a last nail into the coffin of terrorists that has been destroying the country from every side.
