Military source: Chadian soldiers killed in suspected Boko Haram attack
Boko Haram claimed responsibility for the multiple bomb blast that killed at least 16 people last week in Abuja, the federal capital in central Nigeria.
The Nigerian Army has killed over 100 Boko Haram terrorists after they made attempts to attack 120 Task Force Battalion troops, in Goniri, Yobe State.
Meanwhile, Yobe State Police Commissioner, Mr. Markus Danladi, confirmed that four suspected Boko Haram suicide bombers, yesterday, attacked Buhari Housing Estate and a village on the outskirts of Damaturu, killing 18 people and injuring 25 others.
A fourth incident occurred on Tuesday which killed three Boko Haram terrorists.
Suspicion for the latest bombings will likely fall on the Islamist rebels, who have repeatedly attacked Damaturu during their bloody, six-year insurgency.
“This surprise attack claimed the lives of 11 soldiers and wounded 13 (and) 17 Boko Haram fighters were killed”, reports indicate.
The attack reportedly took place in Kaiga Ngouboua, about two kilometers from Chad’s border to Nigeria. “They should follow their colleagues who have so far surrendered”, he said.
In a related development, Nigerian troops in Bama and Ngurosoye axis of the neighboring Borno State have discovered and exhumed improvised explosive devices belonging to Boko Haram, the army headquarters said.
Gaidam, which shares land border with Niger republic, suffered an attack in March, forcing residents to flee the country.
Boko Haram’s leader Abubakar Shekau, whose failure to appear on screen in any of the group’s messages since February has prompted speculation about whether he is alive, was referred to in the latest film but was not shown. The Nigerian militant group has intensified its campaign of terror since President Mohammadu Buhari came to power on May 29.
