Millennium Park Named One Of The Greatest Places in the United States
The American Planning Association chose Millennium Park as one of the six best public spaces in the United States.
From World War II when numerous institutions were taken over by the Navy to the 15 museums and world-famous zoo that welcome thousands of residents, tourists, and students each year, the park is the artistic hub of the city: a place for relaxation, learning, and fun.
The Flint Farmers Market was handed out an award on October1.
The APA would also like to extend an invitation to the public to vote on their favorite space not listed in their official selections.
Flint Farmers’ Market Manager Karianne Martus said it was a huge honor to have the market considered by the American Planning Association. “We’re just overwhelmed by the honor”.
Rounding up the impressive list are: Hermann Park in Houston; Santa Fe Railyard in Santa Fe, New Mexico Millenium Park, Chicago; and Pearl Street Mall, Boulder, Colorado.
The public could have the chance to recommend a further favourite public area, neighborhood, or road to earn a People’s Choice designation, in accordance with the APA. “The Great Neighborhoods, Great Streets, and Great Public Spaces of 2015 are places that are unique and exemplary in their amenities and infrastructure, cultural identity, and use of sustainable and innovative practices”.
“It’s joining the ranks of places such as Central Park New York City millennium park in Chicago”.
Martus said, “It means a lot”.
