Minecraft Confirmed for Oculus Rift
The company’s announcements come as Samsung declared that it would be launching its Oculus-powered Gear VR headset for $99 in November.
Folks who have always wanted to visit the vast worlds theyve created in Minecraft will finally get that opportunity next spring as Oculus VR founder Palmer Luckey announces that the insanely popular build-it-yourself game is heading to the Rift. This edition will be available from the Oculus store and the Windows store.
“Virtual reality is the next phase of innovation in gaming”, said Ian Howe, President of 505 Games.
Industry veteran and Oculus VR chief tech officer John Carmack has explained the lengths he went to to secure a virtual reality version of Minecraft.
Adr1ft will be released onto Steam in the first quarter of 2016, and be for the Oculus platform.
New game footage, development kits rolling out.
Bear in mind that the intended consumer package of the Rift is set to include not just the actual VR headset, but also the required sensor and an Xbox One controller.
This year’s Oculus Connect conference for virtual reality developers dropped a major bombshell on it’s audience Thursday: the Windows 10 edition of “Minecraft” will launch “next year”. Of course these would be a lot more expensive for India when you factor BIS, customs, and weight, which is why we won’t be surprised if local assemblers manage to make VR ready machines at a similar price. “We will continue to refine the hardware from various aspects, while working alongside 3rd party developers and publishers and SCE Worldwide Studios, in order to bring content that deliver exciting experiences only made possible with VR”.
Regardless, Carmack persisted – and in fact only tied up the final deal in the early hours of yesterday before the game’s announcement last night. He also noted that first-person games like Minecraft are automatically more immersive experiences than something played on a tabletop, perhaps a subtle dig at Microsoft’s HoloLens Minecraft demonstration.
