Minecraft: Story Mode brings Mojang’s world to Nintendo for the first time
The storytellers have now revealed to The Verge that their upcoming game, Minecraft: Story Mode, will bring them back into the Nintendo fold. It is worth noting that this is the first time that “Minecraft” will hit Nintendo consoles. This is also the first for the series to have reached out to a new platform since Microsoft acquired the franchise.
During his interview with The Verge, Telltale’s director of creative communications, Job Stauffer said, “We’re tailoring this for audiences both existing and new, but Minecraft fans are really at the core of the themes here”. Telltale will also be giving away Minecraft: Story Mode t-shirts to those who play the beta. The first ever public beta will be playable this weekend in Seattle at PAX Prime.
Telltale has also confirmed some of the game’s voice cast, which includes Patton Oswalt (Jesse), Corey Feldman, Billy West, and Paul Reubens. “The Order are the very best at what they do: Warrior, Redstone Engineer, Griefer, and Architect”. Developers Simogo and Dakko Dakko rectified that today, announcing that the game -which has been reworked to incorporate the Wii U GamePad’s second screen and motion controls- will be released on September 17, just three weeks from now. Supplies are limited, but there are four different designs that fans can choose from throughout the gaming event.
Story Mode will come in five episodes, with players journeying through Nether, the Farlands, the End and beyond.
Mojang’s sandbox, world-building game has spread across to a number of devices beyond its more traditional PC and console roots, including the likes of iOS, Android, Windows Phone and Raspberry Pi.
