Minimum 2 Mbps BSNL broadband from October 1
Following this move by BSNL, the definition of minimum broadband speed according to TRAI which is still 512 KBPS is expected to be redefined soon. If you have taken 1GB data plan, then within 12 hours, your quota will be over and your speed drops down from 2Mbps to 512Kbps.
This is another major service offering from BSNL for customers, after the offer of free night calling on landline to all operator networks from 9:00 pm to 7:00 am and free incoming roaming services for its mobile customers.
With this upgradation, BSNL customers can access or surf the internet including social network websites like Facebook, Google, Twitter, among others at high speed.
BSNL will offer a base broadband speed of 2 super bit for every second (Mbps) from October 1 on-wards to its clients, at no additional expense.
The announcement was made by Minister of Communication & IT, Ravi Shankar Prasad in a function today. Earlier they also This is the first service provider in the country to launch broadband services with landlines in 2005 with a speed of 256 kbps using MPLS (Multi Protocol Label Switching) technology. Also, this upgrade by BSNL comes in sync with the National Telecom Policy 2012 where the government aimed at increasing download speed to 2 MBPS by 2015.
“We have increased the Internet speed four times…we have ensured 2 Mbps is available at the last mile, which is the customer premises starting October 1”, BSNL CMD Anupam Shrivastava said.
“This u-gradation shall enhance the customer experience while surfing on internet and enjoying live video streaming by all customers even in the low price range”. BSNL is now having around 10 Mn Broadband customers, including about 1.1 Mn.
