Minister Bruton offers advice to Leaving Cert students unhappy with results
The results were available for collection in person this morning – but those wanting to check online will have to wait until midday.
Nearly 2,000 local students are receiving their Leaving Cert results today (Wednesday).
It’s a nervous morning for tens of thousands of students as well their families.
“Students deserve to go out, celebrate getting their results with their friends and we hope they enjoy marking this milestone in their young lives”, Conor Cullen, Head of Advocacy and Communications with Alcohol Action Ireland said.
She said it was also encouraging to see a rise in the number of students taking science subjects and achieving good results, adding that this would help meed the need for these skills in the labour market.
There was a 9 per cent failure rate for ordinary level maths.
The number getting seven A1s has halved since past year.
Some 1,382 Westmeath students will receive their results, while 554 students in Roscommon will find out how they did in their exams.
The National Parents Council is providing a hotline staffed with guidance counsellors for those who need it on 1800 265 165.
No one got the flawless score of 9 A1s and 4,000 students failed maths.
