Minneapolis on Edge After Five Are Shot
Police had kept a low profile during the Tuesday night gathering at the department’s 4th Precinct.
One man has been released – a 32-year-old Hispanic man who was arrested in South Minneapolis. Police said that all of the injuries were non-life threatening.
A massive line of protesters is marching from Minneapolis’ north side to downtown, demonstrating against the fatal shooting of a black man in a November 15 confrontation with police.
Around 2:30 p.m., investigators took two additional men into custody after they voluntarily turned themselves in.
Witness Jie Wronski-Riley, 19, told NBC News via telephone that a group of three men was “yelling and being aggressive and it was obvious they were here to antagonize and confront people”.
Protesters demanding justice for a black man fatally shot by Minneapolis police were settling in for their ninth night of demonstrations when something just didn’t seem right.
Alexander Dewan Apprentice Clark, who said he chased the attackers, said one of the men fell and when Clark helped him up, he felt what he believed to be a bulletproof vest under the man’s clothing.
FBI spokesman Kyle Loven said on Tuesday that the FBI was “aware of last night’s incident and is coordinating with the Minneapolis police to assess the situation and determine whether federal action is appropriate”. BLM organizers said in an e-mail that supporters sent them the video, which they posted to their page on Friday to put people on high alert. “I am committed to keeping our entire city and keeping and all of our people safe”. We are very low on supplies.
Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton said Monday that the one video he has seen wasn’t very helpful. We mourn the loss of his life and extend our deep condolences to his family.
“We will not bow to fear or intimidation”, Black Lives Matter’s Noor said at a rally by the police precinct building.
“This federal investigation will be conducted by the FBI and will be concurrent to the state’s investigation”.
Parts of the incident were recorded on several cameras, but no video shows the entire incident, said Drew Evans, superintendent of the Minnesota Department of Public Safety’s Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.

“As a City Council, we come from diverse backgrounds and bring a range of perspectives to our work which reflects the various views of the communities we each represent”. We can’t back down. “We need you here [on Tuesday]”.
“We ain’t scared of domestic terrorists”, added Givens, who is the clergy liaison for Black Lives Matter.
In a statement released early Tuesday through U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison’s office, Clark’s family thanked protesters for their “incredible support” but asked, in light of the shootings, that the demonstration outside the precinct offices end and protesters move “onto the next step”. Last night (Nov. 23), three people opened fire on the crowd, injuring five people.
