Minnesota Vikings come from behind against Detroit Lions
They can win a few games and put up a highlight or two.
Detroit’s performance against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 7 must have been the final straw.
There are five remaining undefeated teams in the league, including the Carolina Panthers, who won the late game last night 27-16 over Philadelphia.
In the end Minnesota came out on top with a 28-19 victory against the Lions.
“We were just inept for a stretch”, Caldwell said.
“No sugar-coating it”, he said.
“I know Teddy personally and I’ve been in his company several times”, Parcells said. Defensively, Chicago is allowing 29.8 points and 344.8 yards per game.
The rest of the time the Lions were just dandy.
When it became apparent Detroit couldn’t run the ball, the Vikings teed off on Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford and finished with seven sacks.
Cooter played quarterback at the University of Tennessee where he played in parts of six games for the Volunteers in three seasons from 2003 to 2005.
The Vikings kept the momentum going in the second half when they took the lead for good on a 36-yard touchdown reception by rookie Stefon Diggs – his first career touchdown, the Star Tribune notes.
The Vikings offense also struggled early, but then scored 22 straight points to take command of the game. Adrian Peterson reeled off a 75-yard run. The Lions had 77 net rushing yards.
After Caldwell’s regime was sacked in 2012, Cooter landed in Kansas City, as the Chiefs’ offensive quality control coach.
It was, geez, what’s a good word?
Yet the protection – both run and pass – have been subpar.
It might have been a touchdown, but the officials spotted the ball at the 1, and Caldwell didn’t challenge it. And particularly where we are, right? But if your team is in need of receiver help and the injury bug has bitten your team hard, Diggs is a flawless player to go out and get for your team. When play resumed, the Lions had to call a timeout of their own, because they only had 10 players on the field.
Not to belabor the issue, but those times must have been the second, third, and fourth quarters. Parcells said. I’ve watched him pretty closely and I’m impressed with him.
But there were two times when the Vikings’ rush was so fast and so furious that Stafford was hit and in the grasp before he had completely turned from dropping back. “Everybody’s out there giving it their best effort”. He’s all football, I can tell you that.
True. Stafford’s toughness has never been in question.
More than that, Mike Zimmer’s defense is producing sacks at all three levels, from the defensive line to the secondary – defensive ends and tackles have accounted for nine, linebackers seven, and safeties one.
Fortunately, at least for a while, they’ll be mostly out of sight and out of mind.
