Misfit Flash Link revealed as wearable do-anything button
Misfit is also sweetening the pot for those interested in their other fitness trackers.
(Image: Misfit) I often recommend Misfit wearables, either the Shine or Flash, to those who are interested in trying out a wearable device, but are not convinced they need to spend more than $100 for an accessory.
First off, the new Misfit Link app lets you use any Misfit Flash as a miniature remote of sorts by pressing the Flash button.
Misfit reveals “Flash Link”, a wearable fitness-tracking device that comes with a built-in button that interacts with your smart devices.
Misfit Flash is also being given a breath of new life this week as the company releases a new piece of software called Misfit Link.
The Misfit Link is now available for download on iOS and will be available for Android next month. In addition to announcing Flash Link and the Misfit Link app, Misfit has lowered the prices of Shine and Flash to $69.99 and $29.99, respectively.
The hardware itself uses actions like double presses, triple presses, single presses, presses and then hold, and more in order to do things like skip songs, lower the volume, or advance slides, for example.
The introduction of the Misfit Link app and Flash Link device is the continuation of a move into the smart home for the company, which burst onto the scene with its Misfit Shine tracker three years ago. By buying up cheap Misfit Flash Links, users can position them around their home. Misfit explained that additional functionality is coming soon, including integration with IFTTT and Logitech.
“We’re focused on making products everyone can use”, Tim Golnik, Misfit’s vice president of product and design, said in a statement. From helping you take selfies on Snapchat remotely to controlling your music playing on Spotify and sending text messages – this remote does it all.
