Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez speaks out about ‘humiliating’ Miss Universe mix-up

Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez says that the Miss Universe pageant was rigged to crown her before switching the crown to another contestant in order to generate higher ratings.
After video of Steve Harvey’s epic blunder went viral, millions of viewers watched and laughed as Miss Colombia was award the victor and then stripped of her crown on live television.
During the Fox telecast, Harvey incorrectly named Gutierrez as Miss Universe and shortly after expressed that he had misread the card that had listed Miss Philippines as the victor and Gutierrez as the first runner-up. “It was humiliating for me and for all people in Latin America in the auditorium”, she told the Colombian outlet.
Miss Universe victor Pia Wurtzbach has sent Miss Colombia a message on social media in the meantime.
“Fate has a plan for you, and I’m excited to see what’s ahead”.
“As we say in Colombia, we killed two birds with one stone: I got Miss Universe and now I am free to accept all the job proposals I want”, she said. Now everything is sinking in and I’m nearly done replying and thanking everyone as much as I can”, Wurtzbach said in the caption. I promise I’ll request the Miss Universe Organization to give me my first interview in the Philippines with you when I arrive for my homecoming. Because the TV bungle, Miss Colombia stated she’d received totally different profession opportunities still she can be chatting with her agent & family 1st before making a choice. “I feel like the second Miss universe in a row for Colombia and the third one for the history of our country”.
“In the last three weeks we were together, I saw how strong and handsome you are inside and out”.
It was not the first time the wrong victor was crowned in the Miss Universe pageant. “Paulina Vega did not know what to do and she asked me, and I told her take me off the crown. The happiness that you must be feeling must be incredible”, she wrote. “If that was the goal, they succeeded”.
