Miss Colombia Says ‘Everything Happens For A Reason’ In Video Taken After
Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez, who was mistakenly crowned Miss Universe 2015 after event host Steve Harvey declared the wrong victor, has finally opened up about the major goof-up, on her Instagram page.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight hours after the coronation night, Wurtzbach said that she has not yet talked personally with Gutierrez regarding the freakish moment which pitted their fans against each other.
“I was like, ‘She’s being c***y right now, ‘” Hilton continued.
Breaking her silence, in a video, on Harvey’s blunder, Miss Colombia said, “Everything happens for a reason, so I’m happy”. Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach was named Miss Universe, but in a drama-filled turn worthy of a telenovela.
Despite not being able to compete in the full pageant, she was introduced to the stage while last year’s Miss Universe handed her a bouquet of flowers and the audience gave her a standing ovation. She also said that “arguing and sending hateful messages to each other defeats the whole goal”.
And then, asked during the Top 3 final Q&A why she should be the next Miss Universe, she answered with confidence, “To be a Miss Universe is both an honour and responsibility”.
“I was watching Miss Universe with my family”, Santos told Radio Nacional. They put the crown on her head.
Ana has always dreamed big. “She’s putting these Instagram posts up about how she’s the real victor, but she’s not!”
Even after TV host Steve Harvey announced the wrong victor at Miss Universe, the pageant wants him back.
“I was excited because I was like ‘oh my god, they think I’m good enough to do that, ‘ but I didn’t really want to go at first because I was like scared, you know, because I didn’t know what to expect, because I’d never done it before,”‘ Young explained. After Ariadna Gutierrez had already begun to celebrate, Harvey came back out and admitted the mistake. “I don’t believe this has ever happened in the history of Miss Universe”, His Excellency Juan Manuel Santos Calderon said in a statement.
“To me, our queen is and will remain Miss Universe”.
“It was just a flat-out mistake”, Shapiro said, explaining the format of the card from which Harvey was supposed to read the winning name.
Of course, she’ll also miss her pageant friends along the way.
