Miss Colombia thanks fans after mistaken crowning
The world was shocked when “Family Feud” host Steve Harvey announced the wrong Miss Universe 2015.
Miss Colombia, whose name is Ariadna Gutierrez, was forced to relinquish her crown to Miss Philippines moments after Harvey incorrectly named her the victor.
Miss Colombia has said missing out on the Miss Universe title was “her destiny”.
“After the storm comes the calm”, the 21-year-old wrote alongside a photograph of her shaping her hands into the heart symbol.
Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez posted a touching message to her country and her fans on Instagram Tuesday. “It was very clear who was Miss Universe”. Ditto Harvey. While the ratings for Miss Universe dipped this year, given all the chatter around the pageant since it aired, it seems reasonable to expect that a larger audience will tune in for the 2016 broadcast – especially if Harvey returns as host. “I feel bad”, he wrote.
“Life continues and in the future we will find out why things happen the way they happen”, she mused. I’d like to say thank you to everyone who believed in my potential and those who supported me from the beginning.
Harvey declared the wrong victor of the Miss Universe 2015. The Belize Tourism Board also extended an invitation to host its next pageant via Twitter.
Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos said Monday he was shocked by the episode, which made the front pages of the country’s main newspapers.
And then, asked during the Top 3 final Q&A why she should be the next Miss Universe, she answered with confidence, “To be a Miss Universe is both an honour and responsibility”. “Our queen was marvelous”. And no, it’s not because announcer Steve Harvey mistakenly gave her the crowning glory for three seconds. “You’re not Miss Universe”. They put the crown on her head.
You know by now about Steve Harvey’s gaffe giving the crown to Miss Colombia before realizing his mistake and awarding it to the correct victor, Miss Philippines.
In closing, Mr. Hirsch extends some creative freedom to Miss Colombia by saying, “You will pick your partners, the type of sex you want to have and how many movies you ultimately appear in”. Again it was an honest mistake…
“I definitely want him back, and I would hate to see him not come back”, Mark Shapiro, the producer, said on The Jim Rome Show.
