Miss Teen USA winner to keep crown despite racist tweets
The Miss Teen USA competition has really been in the spotlight lately.
The Houston Chronicle could not immediately confirm independently Hay herself posted numerous tweets including the N-word, however, many Twitter users screengrabbed past exchanges with the former Miss Teen Texas.
A screenshot of the four tweets from 2013 and 2014 has been making the rounds online. Hay took to Twitter to apologize for what she calls language that she’s “not proud of and that there is no excuse for”. Karlie learned many lessons through those personal struggles that reshaped her life and values. The pageant victor reportedly impressed the judges in every sphere with her choice of attire as well as her answers during the nerve-wrecking Q&A session.
Additionally, for the first time ever, The Miss Universe Organization introduced active wear in place of swimsuits during the competition.
Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach attended the Miss Teen USA 2016 pageant on Saturday, July 30, at the Venetian Theater in Las Vegas, Nevada. The statement concluded by commenting that the Miss Universe organization remained “committed to supporting her continued growth”.
‘It’s really embarrassing for her and the pageant’.
The top five contestants in this year’s Miss Teen USA have a lot in common: They’re blonde, blue-eyed and fair skinned. (@MissTeenUSA via Twitter) Chrissy Teigen posted this sarcastic tweet making fun of Miss Teen USA’s five finalists. But by night’s end, people on social media had begun posting some questionable tweets from Hay’s past.
The 18-year-old also earned Best Smile in the 2016 Miss Teen USA class.
‘If u win any pageant – first things first. Clean up ur page. ‘Cus if ur under 21 u shouldn’t b drinking & if ur WHITE the n word ain’t yo word!’
