Miss Universe drama: Miss Universe tells haters to stop and writes heartfelt
Now, the count is over 200,000 times.
After Miss Universe host Steve Harvey wrongly announced Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez, as victor of the pageant, the actual victor, Miss Philippines, Pia Alonzo, was probably (understandably) a little annoyed.
While he initially announced that Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez-Arvalo would be going home with the largest crown, the honor was meant for Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurztbach.
Harvey apologised on Twitter for what he called “an honest mistake”, but identified the women as “Miss Philippians and Miss Columbia”.
He even poked fun at himself on Christmas morning, referencing all of the jokes and memes that people had been sharing about the incident via social media.
One of the wildest conspiracy theory is in relation to Donald Trump after NBC cut ties with the Republican presidential bet and dropped the program.
“You’re Miss Universe! And you’re Miss Universe!”. And to all the fans who are still fighting about this…Please let’s all stop now. Despite the gaffe, Harvey is expected to return to next year’s Miss Universe.
Accompanying a photo of Wurtzbach standing in front of the Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center, she writes: “Wow”. Now, everyone knows Steve Harvey and his other show, “Family Feud“.
Donald Trump, GOP presidential candidate and the former owner of the pageant, said “Steve Harvey is a great guy”, and added “things happen, it’s live television”.
Harvey also later tweeted an apology to the women and viewers.
“The rest of you can meme all you want. Steve Harvey won 2015”.
The comedian took to Instagram to wish everyone a ‘Merry Easter’.
