Miss Universe Germany upset over PH win
Gutierrez breaks into tears of joy after host Steve Harvey mistakenly announced that she had won.
Several people have been disappointed when Steve Harvey announced the wrong victor in the recently-concluded Miss Universe 2015 coronation night. In case you missed one of the biggest WTF moments in television history, Harvey announced the first runner up, Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez, as the victor.
“Colombia was Miss Universe for two minutes”, said El Tiempo daily. This time there was a biracial beauty from Japan, a refugee immigrant from Australia and Indonesian Muslim girl too. Steve Harvey’s wife, Marjorie, is in his corner following the Family Feud host’s embarrassing Miss Universe debacle. Now, she and Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach, who was the actual victor, are not on speaking terms, Wurtzbach told Entertainment Tonight backstage at the Hollywood hotel-casino in Las Vegas.
“It is my mistake”, he said.
“To me, as a Colombian, she is still Miss Universe”, President Juan Manuel Santos said.
Wurtzbach later said she was happy to win, but confused and concerned for her rival.
He held up the card for Fox network cameras to see up close.
When asked why the ladies rushed to Ariadna after the announcement instead of to Pia to congratulate her, Germany replied, “Because none of us voted for Philippines”.
“I made a mistake”, Harvey said. “I really couldn’t believe it, I was so upset”, Riek said in the interview with Missology posted to their Facebook page.
Pacquiao is the only fighter to win world titles in eight different weight divisions but he was beaten by Mayweather in Las Vegas earlier this year.
He softened his tone later, calling Harvey a “great guy” who handled it well.
#”I feel disgusting for this young woman”, he said.
Come September, he bought Miss Universe back, including Miss USA and Miss Teen USA from NBCUniversal.
