Miss USA contestants take stage in 64th annual pageant dogged by Trump

The pageant had been caught up in controversy after Republican presidential candidate and pageant owner Donald Trump said in his announcement speech: “When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best; they’re not sending you”.

NBC Universal pulled out of broadcasting the event. Miss Oklahoma USA Olivia Jordan was named the victor of the pageant.

The competition had been narrowed down to five finalists also representing Rhode Island, Maryland, and Nevada before the victor was crowned Sunday night.

Then a laundry list of contestants gave their ethnic backgrounds as proof the pageant and its associates don’t all agree with Mr. Trump.

Spanish-language network Univision was the first to cancel its planned broadcast of the pageant, quickly followed by MUO partner NBC. She attended Boston University, where she majored in health science and worked as a group fitness instructor and personal trainer.

Pageant organizers rushed to fill the gap so the show could go on.

Jordan is the reigning Miss Oklahoma USA.

Several performers, including Flo Rida, country singer and The Voice victor Craig Wayne Boyd and pop singer Natalie La Rose, also backed out. Miss Nevada Brittany McGowan and Miss Maryland Mame Adjei rounded out the Top 5 of the competition. Check out the live stream below. More recently, she appeared in “Hot Tub Time Machine 2”. While she had initially decided to stay on Miss US 2015 under the impression that Trump would no longer be involved in the production of the show, she later withdrew her decision to co-host Miss US after seeing Trump’s most recent episode with the current Miss Universe.

“As you can see, this year’s contestants are all brilliant career women”, Newton said.

Shugart stated the challenges of the previous few weeks will make for nice apply for whichever lady is topped Miss US, offering a lesson on learn how to keep targeted: “You need to overlook all the things happening round you”.

So with the Miss USA Pageant now behind him, what the coming week holds for Donald Trump and his unfolding campaign trail is anyone’s guess.

When asked if the relationship between the pageant and Reelz would last beyond Sunday night, Stan Hubbard said the agreement was for one night only.
