Missing 3-year-old boy found dead in Haddon Township
A 3-year-old who went missing from a Haddon Township home overnight was found dead in a wooded area near the Cooper River, the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed Tuesday morning. Authorities haven’t yet released the boy’s name. Authorities are awaiting autopsy results. The child’s grandparents reported him missing around 6:00 a.m.
Several blocks of the middle-class neighborhood in southern New Jersey are cordoned off. Shocked neighbors gathered on porches to hug one another.
The location where the boy’s body was found is about one mile from the home.
No word on whether foul play was involved, but Camden County Prosecutor’s Office spokesman Andy McNeil says an active investigation is underway.
Investigators told NBC10 a police K9 picked up the young boy’s scent and led officers to his body.
