Missing Jogger Found Chained And Branded With Message Describes Her Kidnappers
Sherri Papini, 34, allegedly was abducted by two Hispanic women – one armed with a gun – on November 2 after she went out for a jog in the rural town of Mountain Gate, Calif., where she lives with her husband and their two children.
Allegedly abducted California mother Sherri Papini returned home almost a week ago, but the gruesome details of her case are still being revealed by authorities.
Meanwhile, the police continue to search for Papini’s captors, though Shasta County Sheriff Tom Bosenko confessed that detectives have yet to establish a motive behind the kidnapping. Bosenko says Papini describes the alleged assailants as two Hispanic women, one older, one younger. The other woman accused of abducting Sherri Papini was described as being a bit older and having long, black hair with some gray in it and thicker eyebrows.
Sherri Papini’s husband and the sheriff handling the case recently released details of what the mother-of-two suffered from the hands of her abductors, just like the message burned onto her skin.
At a news conference Wednesday outside the sheriff’s office, Bosenko praised Papini’s courage and cooperation in trying to give a description of the captors, pointing out several times why the information she’s given so far is vague: She’s still recovering from trauma, and the women covered their faces and – at times – Papini’s head. “She was cooperative and courageous during the interviews”.
Sherri was kept chained whenever she was in a vehicle. Responding California Highway Patrol officers reported that she was chained to a heavy object, but authorities have not elaborated on the nature of her restraints. I also want to thank Keith Papini, her husband, for his cooperation and information in this case throughout the investigation. Sherri has been interviewed about her abduction three times now as investigators work to piece together as much of those 22 days as they can.
The 34-year-old mom from California who disappeared for almost three weeks was branded with a message, the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office told ABC Wednesday.

Bosenko also offered a more detailed description of the suspects, though he had noted the suspects concealed their identities using masks, according to Papini’s statements.
He told the “Good Morning America” news show in a statement that the bridge of her nose was also broken and her emaciated body was covered with severe burns, red rashes and chain markings.
“It is not a symbol, but it was a message”, Bosenko said. He wasn’t able to confirm Keith Papini’s account of the woman being thrown from a moving vehicle, saying the information he had indicted the woman was dropped off, bound, by her captors.
“Her signature long, blonde hair had been chopped off”.
Bosenko said it’s not clear if Papini wrote the post, but he said the fights the author described weren’t noted in any Sheriff’s Office records.
“We still do not have a motive as to the reason why Mrs. Papini was taken. We do not know if she was a specific target or if this was a random abduction”, Bosenko said.
