Missing mum found alive three weeks after she vanished
On Thanksgiving morning, 22 days after she disappeared while out for an afternoon jog, Sherri Papini was found bruised and bound on the side of a California interstate highway.
Though details of her alleged abduction are scarce, Papini’s husband, Keith, issued a statement exclusively to Good Morning America, and thanked “the entire Redding community, and countless communities around the world”, who helped in the search for his wife and those who reached out to the family’s “torturous journey”. Oswald is a runner, like Papini, and said her sudden vanishing hit close to home.
Sherri Papini’s disappearance while jogging near her home in Redding, California, on November 2 made national headlines.
Papini’s husband Keith described the brutal condition Sherri was in the first time he saw her after she was found.

Mr Papini said that, when his wife was found, she weighed only 39 kilograms and her long blonde hair was shorn, apparently by her captors.
The Papinis are not wealthy and no ransom was sought for her safe return. He said she used the bag to flag down a passing motorist after managing to free one of her hands.
Police recordings which span for 25 minutes, details the first responses of officers in the moments after Ms Papini was found, local news website Redding Record-Searchlight reports.
Detectives have been looking at a racially charged blog post, which is said to have been posted by someone saying they are Sherri.
A missing Redding, Calif. mother has been found alive and is reunited with her family, after Shasta County Sheriff’s Officials say she was released by her captors.
The sheriff has declined to discuss details of Papani’s injuries. The sheriff said that the case is still an active investigation and that authorities are “looking for a dark-colored SUV with two Hispanic females armed with a handgun”. According to Sheriff Bosenko, they are checking cell phone records, bank accounts, email, and social media profiles for information about what might have occurred and even did some investigating out of state on a possible lead.
Miraculously, Sherri Papini, the mom who was abducted on November 2, was found alive 3 weeks later after being repeatedly beaten and held in captivity.
“Thank you to the many incredible humans that have never known Sherri that facilitated in sharing our heartbreak across the globe”, Keith Papini said in the statement, obtained exclusively by “Good Morning America”. What we do know is that Sherri sustained non-life threatening but serious injuries while she was being held against her will.
Papini’s sister, Sheila Koester, tells PEOPLE, “We are very, very overjoyed and just very excited to have her back home with her family”.
Her disappearance made national news, and the community launched an aggressive manhunt to find her.
“Right now she’s been through a very traumatic event, and needs time with her family”, 36-year-old Koester said.
A Crescent City woman, Alison Sutton, told the New York Daily News that she called 911 after seeing Papini wave a piece of fabric up and down on the side of the freeway.
