Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation opens big in China
“Mission: Impossible: Rogue Nation’s” opening haul is 116 percent bigger compared to the first-day earnings of “Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol“, which earned $100 million in China. Coupled with its $180 million domestic haul, the fifth installment in the “Mission: Impossible” franchise is at $509 million worldwide.
Alibaba pictures invested in the film, collaborating with Paramount pictures on online ticketing and promotion for the film’s release here in China.
The film, starring Tom Cruise, is the fifth highest top-grosser of all time for a United States title behind 3D entries “Furious 7” ($54.4 million), “Avengers: Age of Ultron” ($29.2 million) and fellow Paramount titles “Transformers: Age of Extinction” ($27.4 million) and “Terminator Genisys” ($26.7 million).
